The Zinfindel Championship competition is presented by the Pittsburg Arts & Community Foundation and culminates with a gourmet Dinner hosted by Discovery Homes. Every Zinfandel producer in California is invited to participate. The list of producers is derived from wineries reviewed in popular magazines and from information about producers listed in “Wines and Vines” Magazine, Wine.com, ZAP and managed through enofileonline.com.

Wines entered are given the distinction of  Silver, Gold and Double Gold during a blind tasting by a panel of well known wine connoisseurs and vintners whose selections lead up to the final Grand Championship tasting. In addition, the judges bestow the “Best Buy” award to quality Zinfandel priced at $15 and under.

This year’s annual event takes place at Pittsburg’s beautiful Marina, on the Marina Green.  The Italian Village theme for the event will be reflected in the cuisine of Scott's Seafood of Walnut Creek. The Double Gold Medalists and the Grand Championship are be awarded during the gourmet dinner affair. The top three wineries earning Double Gold honors are invited to attend the dinner and receive their awards in person. Throughout the evening, the judges are served the three wines in a final round of blind tastings and the Grand Champion is awarded.
